Custom 3D printing, end to end

Design help, material advice, precision printing and hand-finishing — all under one roof in Benoni, and couriered anywhere in South Africa.

What we do

From a rough idea to a finished part

EDPS is a custom 3D printing studio based in Benoni, Gauteng. We turn concepts, sketches and CAD files into real, physical objects — one-off prototypes, small production runs, replacement parts and bespoke pieces. Whether you already have a print-ready 3D file or just an idea in your head, we handle the whole process: advising on the right material and finish, preparing the file, printing on calibrated machines, and quality-checking every layer before it reaches you.

We work with individuals, engineers, small businesses, schools and makers across South Africa. Local clients are welcome to collect from Benoni; everyone else gets their parts couriered nationwide. No order is too small, and there's no obligation to get a quote.

🧩

Rapid Prototyping

Test form, fit and function before you commit to tooling or production. We print quick iterations so you can hold your design, spot problems early, and refine it in days rather than weeks.

⚙️

Functional Parts

Brackets, housings, jigs, gears, enclosures and replacement parts printed in engineering-grade PLA+, PETG, ABS and TPU — durable enough for real-world use, not just display.

🎁

Custom & Personalised

Gifts, keepsakes, cosplay props, miniatures and décor made exactly to your brief. Add names, dates or logos for a truly one-of-a-kind piece.

🏷️

Signage & Branding

3D logos, raised lettering, display stands and branded pieces that make your business stand out at reception, on a stall, or at an event.

🔁

Reverse Engineering

Recreate a broken, discontinued or unavailable part from a physical sample, a photo or measurements — then print a replacement that fits.

🎨

Finishing & Painting

Sanding, priming, painting, gluing and assembly for a smooth, polished result that doesn't look 3D printed.

Materials

Which material is right for your part?

Choosing the right filament is half the job. Here's a plain-English guide to what we print and when each one makes sense — or just tell us how the part will be used and we'll recommend the best option.

PLA & PLA+

Best for: prototypes, models, décor and detailed display pieces.

Easy to print with crisp detail and vivid colours. Rigid and dimensionally accurate, but softens in high heat — so it's ideal indoors, not for a car dashboard. PLA+ adds extra toughness over standard PLA.

PETG

Best for: functional parts, outdoor use and anything that needs to flex a little.

A great all-rounder — tougher and more heat- and water-resistant than PLA, with good layer bonding. Our go-to for brackets, enclosures and parts that live outside or take some stress.

ABS / ASA

Best for: heat-resistant, impact-tough engineering parts.

Strong and temperature-resistant, used widely in automotive and mechanical parts. ASA adds excellent UV resistance for long-term outdoor use.

TPU (Flexible)

Best for: grips, seals, gaskets, phone cases and shock-absorbing parts.

A rubber-like flexible filament that bends and compresses without breaking — perfect wherever you need give rather than rigidity.

Resin (SLA)

Best for: ultra-fine detail — miniatures, jewellery masters and small precision parts.

Resin captures detail that filament can't, with an ultra-smooth finish. Ideal for tabletop miniatures, dental/jewellery models and intricate small pieces.

40+ colours & finishes

Best for: matching your brand or design.

From matte and silk to wood- and metal-filled looks. Not sure what you need? Send us the part's job and we'll suggest the right material, colour and finish.

Getting started

Sending us your design

If you already have a 3D model, we accept the common formats — STL, 3MF, OBJ and STEP. Upload your file straight from the contact page along with a note about size, material, colour and quantity, and we'll come back with a quote.

No 3D file? No problem. Send a sketch, a photo, a technical drawing or even just a clear description, and our design service will model it for you before printing. We can also scale, repair or modify an existing file to make it print-ready.

How it works

Your part is printed on calibrated machines and quality-checked layer by layer.

4 · Delivered

Collect from Benoni or have it couriered anywhere in South Africa, ready to use.

FAQ

Common questions

How much does 3D printing cost?

Price depends on the size of the part, the material, how detailed it is, and how many you need. Small pieces can start from around R120, while larger or more complex parts cost more. Send us your file or idea and we'll give you an exact, no-obligation quote.

What file formats do you accept?

We accept STL, 3MF, OBJ and STEP files. If you don't have a 3D file, send a sketch, photo or description and we'll design one for you before printing.

What's the difference between PLA and PETG?

PLA is rigid, prints with crisp detail and is ideal for models, prototypes and indoor décor, but it softens in high heat. PETG is tougher, more heat- and water-resistant and slightly flexible, making it the better choice for functional parts and anything used outdoors. If you're unsure, tell us how the part will be used and we'll pick for you.

How long does a 3D print take?

Most jobs are ready within about 48 hours, though large, complex or multi-part orders can take longer. We confirm a realistic turnaround with your quote.

Do you deliver, or do I collect?

Both. Clients near Benoni are welcome to collect, and we courier orders anywhere in South Africa.

Can you recreate a broken or discontinued part?

Often, yes. Send us the broken part, a photo or measurements and we'll reverse-engineer a 3D model, then print a replacement in a suitable material.

Got something you want printed?

Tell us about your project and we'll get back to you with options and a quote.
